August 2002 was a barren month. The S&P 500 dropped about 22%
from its August 2001
level. There was a total of 125 stocks that were
short listed. Not one of the short listed stocks made the final cut.
ACE'S does not have a stock pick for
this month. This is the first time (since its inception in
October 2000) that
not a single stock made the grade to be an ACE'S
stock pick. This shows, in one aspect, how severe the current market
condition is. This is also an excellent demonstration how stocks
are picked by ACE'S: The stocks'
quantified attributes, rather than their "glamour" or popularity, are the determinant for the
stocks' selection. If
those attributes are deficient, the stocks do not get selected; and if all of the
short listed stocks are "deficient", no stocks gets picked.
